Washington, D.C., shopping is as diverse as the cultures and people in this powerful but eclectic city. You can find everything here from souvenir shops with political items to official items straight from the White House, such as holiday ornaments and the same Easter eggs that people get at the annual White House Easter Egg Roll. Other hot spots for interesting Washington, D.C., stores include the museum shops at the various Smithsonian museums; these are just off the National Mall.

If you are looking for one of the many Washington, D.C., malls, check out The Shops at Georgetown, which features four stories of upscale shopping including the likes of Ann Taylor and Polo, but this urban spot has no department stores. The Shops at National Place, at 1331 Pennsylvania Ave NW, is home to over a hundred shops and restaurants.

For a fun and uniquely Washington, D.C., shopping experience, try Political America, which sits squarely at the corner of Pennsylvania and 14th. This spot has everything from campaign buttons to letters plus many other commemorative items. Regardless of which side of the political aisle you lean, this spot has you covered with items from a variety of administrations.

Another great spot is the shopping found at the White House Visitor Center. It opens early at 7:30 a.m., but it also closes early at 4 p.m.

Of course, you’ll find many brand names in Washington, D.C., at various locations. Popular chains for bargains include H&M and Loehmann’s.

Beyond these chains, you can also find some interesting experiences in the city. The Georgetown Flea Market at Wisconsin Ave NW has a vast amount of collectible items from toys to rugs and beyond. This spot has over seventy booths all year long. You can find expensive things and lots of great finds with even better price tags. This is a good one to check out for an antique find.
