Event Details

Child marriage and early unions are not well understood in the Americas region – even though almost 30% of girls in Latin America and the Caribbean are married before the age of 18, and Latin America is the only region in the world where child and adolescent pregnancy are increasing. The aims of this regional exchange of findings are to review what we know about child marriage and early unions in the Americas on the basis of a growing body of concrete research, to identify information and data gaps; and to identify specific public policy and programmatic recommendations.
