This is particularly true when you are trying to raise a bilingual child. Whether you are a native speaker hoping to pass your language on to your child or a non-native speaking family on a language learning journey- you need support! This is what Bilingual Villages is all about. We are not a class, we are a community! A place for families, caregivers, and kids to come together at our Kensington, MD clubhouse, learn songs, new vocabulary and more, and make friendships in the target language- to play together, talk together, and grow together.
Through free play, rotating themes, gently-led activities from our native speaking activity coordinators, plentiful resources such as books and games, occasional field trip to fun local (Washington, DC-area) destinations, and more, Bilingual Villages helps families truly live the language!
Keiko and I started attending when she was about eight months old. She is now fourteen months old and among her first words are “bateau” and “un, deux.” We learn a lot of French nursery songs at the village that we enjoy singing at home. And really it warms my heart to see her bonding with other kids and other parents that she now knows well from seeing them every week. I love that she associates French with the company of people she enjoys. — Erica Cefalo, Member of Le Petit Village Français.
