Please join WAM-DC on Tuesday, January 23rd for an informal conversation with microinsurance expert Paula Pagniez on the future of risk management and financial inclusion in the developing world. As we enter into 2018, it is more apparent that extreme and unpredictable weather conditions will continue to impact communities across the world. Appropriate financial services play a crucial role in helping households build resilience against climate variability and other risks.
Paula has more than 15 years of international experience in microinsurance, financial inclusion, and global development, and most recently served as Sr. Microinsurance Specialist, Vice President, at Swiss Re's Global Partnerships. We will discuss the state of the microinsurance sector today, as well as opportunities and challenges to the design, scale-up, and usage of effective risk management tools by low-income families in the developing world. The conversation will be moderated by Sarah Ebrahimi, Investment Officer on IFC's Women and Insurance Team.
Doors will open at 6:00 pm and the panel will be from 6:30 - 7:30 pm including a moderated discussion and an open Q&A. Light appetizers and drinks will be served.
