2018 LOC Summer Movies on the Lawn

"Field of Dreams" (Universal, 1989) 107 min.

An Iowa corn farmer, hearing voices, interprets them as a command to build a baseball diamond in his fields; he does, and the 1919 Chicago White Sox come. "Field of Dreams" was added to the National Film Registry in 2017.

Before the movie, those attending “Field of Dreams” can visit the Library’s new exhibition “Baseball Americana” during special evening hours Thursday, July 12, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Don’t miss this exhibition celebrating baseball as community, exploring the game’s gritty roots and baseball today.

Additionally, the Library of Congress and Washington Performing Arts' Mars Urban Arts Initiative will co-host " Summer Concerts on the Lawn" outdoor musical performances. The performances will begin at 7pm prior to the films from July 19 - August 23.
