School is out! Join Capitol Hill Cubing Club at Labyrinth Games & Puzzles for summer fun with Rubik's cubes. Participants will learn to solve the 3x3 cube, using basic and advanced notation used in competitions. We will advance to solve other types of cubes (2x2, Pyraminx, Skewb, and other types of twisty puzzles) as time and desire allows. We will also create super fun patterns on different types of cubes, trade puzzles with other cubers (should you desire), and learn finger tricks. Advanced cubers will teach beginners. The club with gather for five dates in the summer: June 24th, July 1st, July 15th, August 5th and August 12th. Ages 7 and up.
Programming specific to each club date is below. Though we will do our best to follow our syllabus, our mission is to teach anybody that wants to learn during any of these sessions.
June 24th: learning how to solve a 3x3 cube: Part I
July 1st: learning how to solve a 3x3 cube: Part II
July 15th: learning how to solve the 2x2 and Skewb (and Pyraminx, as time allows)
August 5th: creating fun patterns with cubes
August 12th: Free Choice!
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
No ID required. We recommend ages 7+ only because that's typically the age when kids may start to show an interest in cubing...and because we LOVE TO TEACH TO SOLVE! Beyond that, there is no cap on the age during which you can learn to cube. I am learning myself, and I am a mom (the organizer) of an advanced cuber.
What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
There is some street parking, which is free on Sundays.
What can I bring into the event?
If you have one, bring your Rubik's Cube. If you do not own a cube, no worries. We will have cubes for you to use at the event. There are also some interesting Rubik's cubes available for sale in the store (Labyrinth Games and Puzzles).
How can I contact the organizer with any questions?
