Are you a teenager who has ever felt depression, stress, or anxiety? Have you ever asked the adults around you for help, but they've dismissed you because of your age or because people of color aren't supposed to feel that way? Mind My Mental is here to help. The Mind My Mental Summit and Carnival will help teenagers realize that their feelings matter, and mental health awareness does not start at adulthood. We will also help prepare adults to talk to teenagers about mental health without judgement.
There will be a carnival held from 6-7 P.M. outside of the THE ARC Blackbox that will have different stations showcasing mental health and self-care tools. At the summit, held from 7-9 P.M. inside the Blackbox, there will be two guest speakers and a panel. The speakers will discuss their experiences with mental health. The panel will be a discussion between three teens and three adults about mental health awareness for youth in the innercity. We hope that teenagers will leave out of this event knowing how to care for their mental health and adults will leave out knowing how to discuss mental health with teenagers.
