Washingtonian artist Alicia Cosnahan, who paints under the nickname DECOY was born near Brussels, Belgium. She spent most of her childhood journeying through the villages of Europe.

Her artistry focuses not on figures alone, but the figure’s intersection with color and space. Her detailed layered expressions accentuate a person’s place while engaged in daily situations. Inspired by both playful and professional encounters, Alicia’s images etch a lasting impression in the viewers mind.

Alicia’s catalogue of work represents a distortion of her original ideas. Her goal is not to replicate life through art, but to portray it through the unique lens of her cognizant memory.

Receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Berry College in Rome, GA in 2001, Alicia also pairs her post studies at Studio Arts Center International and Fuji Studios both of Florence, Italy.
