Rumiko Manako will teach two workshops on creating arrangements in her own “Rumiko Style, Manako Flower Academy ”. This very personal crossover style bridges the gap between European flower arranging and Ikebana, Rumiko Style is catching on rapidly. The school has over 2000 students in 6 countries. Rumiko builds and sculpts with flowers and leaves, creating three-dimensional displays, that are elegant, flawless and poetic.

The Manako Flower Academy was established by Mrs. Yasuko Manako in 1961. She was inspired by European flower design from her travel and created an original style drawing upon both European design and her long experience with Ikenobo. Today, under the guidance of Yasuko’s daughter-in-law, Rumiko, the Academy continues to innovate original styles. It also teaches classical Ikenobo, carefully distinguishing between the two.

What to expect in an ikebana class: Students bring their supplies for the event as stated above. Flowers, containers and materials will be passed out to all students. The teacher (Sensei) will teach the lesson on handling, cutting and placing flowers and materials into the container. Students will then have the opportunity to create the arrangement on their own. Questions will be answered. When the students complete the arrangement, the teacher will review and comment on each arrangement. At the conclusion of the workshop, we will clean up our spaces and thank the teacher.

What are parking options for the event?

There is parking on the right side of the church where you will enter. There are handicap spaces and there are no stairs into the room.

What can I bring into the event?

Bring your ticket. Please review the list above for supplies needed. You may wish to bring snacks, lunch or something to drink. Complimentary coffee, tea and water will be available. Lunch will be available for those who have reserved and paid with their ticket. We will have tables available for all for lunch.

What's the refund policy?

Once you have purchased your ticket to attend, no refunds are given.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

Yes, bring your ticket to the event. We will take your ticket, give you a name badge and help with logistics and the schedule for the day.
